Jewellery Care

About the Metals:

Silver: I use Eco Silver, which is a 100% recycled alternative to Sterling silver, processed in the UK. Eco silver is sourced from scrap jewellery, medical equipment, electronics and giftware. It has exactly the same properties and can be worked and worn in the same way as Sterling silver. Sterling is 92.5% pure silver.

Gold: I use 100% Recycled 9 carat gold ('Eco Gold').

Brass & Copper: I use solid brass and copper.

Gold Filled: Gold filled is a layer of gold pressure bonded to another metal. The weight of the gold is 5% of the total weight of the metal, and it is much more valuable and tarnish resistant than gold plated items as the gold doesn’t not flake or rub off over time, The metal I use is 12k Gold Filled.

Gold Foil: Keum-Boo 24k gold foil is 25 times thicker than gold leaf, and can be fused to silver as decoration.

Cleaning your jewellery:

All of the metals above will tarnish over time and with humidity or water.

You can buy metal polish from the supermarket or hardware shop to keep your jewellery shiny - for example Brasso or Silvo. There are also some home recipes for cleaning brass and silver jewellery available online.
